How long does therapy last? I tend to work short-term and focused. This generally means therapy is completed between 6-10 sessions for most clients. However, as I believe that it is of vital importance that you go at your own pace, and depending on your needs, it may be more or less than this. As the work progresses I often space the appointments apart from weekly or fortnightly to longer duration to suit your needs. This is designed to enable consolidation of learning and to increase your confidence in using new skills on your own. What if I need a break? Sometimes a person, for what ever reason, may find that they are not able to work on a particular issue and may decide to either have a break or completely end our work together. It is important that if in this situation you feel able to be honest and do what is in your best interests. |
![]() Am I going mad? This question has been asked by a number of clients. To date, for the people that have asked this question, the answer has always been no. When a person’s life is turned upside down by difficulties they can find that their thoughts and behaviour alter drastically. This can feel quite scary at the time as they are often in uncharted territory; hence the feeling of ‘losing it’ or ‘going mad’. These changes can often be explained by the effects of the stress reaction on the body and mind. I therefore work using psychological information and techniques to help provide a map and guidance for this new territory. |
